]]> San Quirico d’Orcia is a delightful small Tuscan village that we absolutely recommend you visit. An ideal point to visit Pienza, Bagno Vignoni and Montalcino, San Quirico d ‘Orcia is a delightful village located in the heart of the Val d’Orcia.
An important stop along the Via Francigena, this village still shows its medieval structure, surrounded by the ancient city walls. From here you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Val d’Orcia and Mount Amiata.
Here you will be spoiled for choice of monuments to visit: you can start by visiting the splendid Horti Leonini, a perfect example of the classic Italian garden. Here in the center of the green labyrinth stands the beautiful statue of Cosimo III de ‘Medici; continuing along the characteristic streets of the town, you can reach the remains of the Torre del Cassero, an ancient tower almost 40 meters high which was destroyed during the Second World War. Strolling along the streets of the village you will find numerous shops selling typical products and crafts and excellent restaurants.

]]> Visiting the jewel of the Val d’Orcia is one of those things to do at least once in a lifetime! Immerse yourself in the harmony of the “ideal city”, a real stone jewel wanted by Enea Silvio Piccolomini, the future Pope Pius II.

 

Many of the streets of the Renaissance Pienza bear romantic or evocative names: cross Pienza walking along the main street, Corso Rossellino, which is overlooked by artisan shops, restaurants and flowered balconies.

In the middle of Corso Rossellino opens “Piazza Pio II”, which overlooks the Town Hall. Continue to Piazza di Spagna with its beautiful well, and if you want to enjoy a unique show, take a detour along the very romantic Via del Casello. Here you can admire the whole Val d’Orcia from above: a breathtaking spectacle that you can enjoy tasting the renowned Pecorino di Pienza, perhaps accompanied by an excellent glass of wine.
