Leonardo in Valdichiana: A Sketch of the Territory and the Science of Water
18 June 2019 @ 8:00 - 8 September 2019 @ 20:00
The exhibition, to be held in the Fortress of Montepulciano from 25th May to 8th September 2019, will be the last stage of the three-year exhibition programme dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci, who spent some time in this area, carefully studying it. The bird’s-eye map of Valdichiana sketched by Leonardo himself, which excellently represents the core of the exhibition, is a highly stimulating document that helps the audience get acquainted with the evolution of landscape and of the towns in the area, and serves to establish a real connection between the territory and the artist-scientist.The relationship between Leonardo and Valdichiana has been newly brought to light and emphasised by the two exhibitions held in 2017 and 2018. The 2019 exhibition will make its contribution to the events in commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the death of the great “genius” from Vinci.Information The exhibition is open every day, from 10:30 am to 6:30 pm (last access at 6:00 pm). Ticket, € 5.00 full price; € 3.50 reduced. www.leonardomontepulciano.it
